3 Mistakes Vapers Make When Filling Their Vape Tanks
Filling your vaping device’s tank of any type can seem complicated if you’re new to vaping or new to the device you’re using. Whether you vape with an e-cigarette, portable vaporizer, or a MOD, it’s important to avoid these 3 common mistakes that’ll most likely ruin your vaping experience.
Filling Your Vape Tank Mistake #1: Filling the Wrong Amount
Overfilling usually happens when the vaper wants to fit as much e-liquid as possible into the tank so they don't have to refill during the day. If you find yourself doing this regularly, look for larger tanks, stronger juices, or more convenient refill methods to keep from making this mistake. Overfilling leads to leaks, clogs, airflow reduction, and, if unchecked, overheating and device damage.
On the other side of that, vaping with too little e-liquid can be just as harmful, but usually doesn't happen from intentionally under-filling. Instead, this usually occurs when the vaper keeps vaping even after the tank is empty. This is terrible for your coils and will eventually burn them out. Make sure you’ve a decent amount of liquid in your tank, and refill before you run dry.
Filling Your Vape Tank Mistake #2: Putting the E-Liquid in the Wrong Place
It sounds ridiculous, but it happens all the time. Customizable builds and exponential technological advances mean that even experienced vapers are sometimes baffled by a new MOD or any other new vaping device. If you’re at all unsure about where to put the e-liquid or how to fill your tank, you should consult reliable Internet sources or, better yet, the manufacturer themselves. There have been cases where vapers fill liquid into the chimney itself or attempt to fill the tank from the wrong end (not all tanks fill from the top, remember). In either case, this can lead to leakage, poor airflow, and overheating. Make sure you know how to use your device before you waste e-juice this way.
Filling Your Vape Tank Mistake #3: Forgetting to Prime the Coils
A common mistake newbies make is to start taking hits immediately after filling the tank. This can burn out the coils, because it doesn't allow enough time for the e-juice to steep into the coils or wick properly. Vapers who do this often notice a burned or charred flavor when they start vaping, and this can damage or destroy coils altogether. Instead, you'll want to wait at up to 5 minutes after filling the tank before you start vaping. This’ll give the liquid time to soak into the coils so every hit is full of flavor.
Vaping isn't complicated, but racing technology means how to use new devices isn’t always obvious, and not all devices are new-user friendly. These tips will give vapers like you a place to start for any device type. Still, make sure you read up on your personal device before filling to get the most out of the experience and avoid unnecessary damage.
